Metal guillotine – What is it?
A guillotine is a machine that uses a blade to reciprocate a straight line against another blade to shear a sheet. Our metal fabricating machines are top of the range and include the Baileigh SH-5210 and a hydraulic guillotine. These machines shear carbon and non-ferrous metals using a pair of blades set one above another, with either a fixed or adjustable blade gap, and driven mechanically, pneumatically or hydraulically. The blades will have a fixed or variable cutting angle – known as the rake angle – depending on the application they have been designed for.
Why use metal guillotines?
Sheet metal guillotines play an important role in sheet metal fabrication; they can be used to create clean, accurate cuts in sheet metal and are relatively easy to maintain. However, proper safety precautions must be adhered to when operating a metal guillotine or a heavy duty guillotine.
